Principal’s welcome

As Principal of Taranganba State School, I feel immense pride in being part of a committed school community that constantly strives to make our school the great school that it is. Our entire staff is committed to making a positive educational difference for your child.

We focus on our vision: Creating Lifelong Learners. Every Child, Every Day, Every Opportunity.  We do this through Learning, Integrity and Growth to ensure that we develop the whole child through the provision of a quality sustainable curriculum to nurture and challenge each individual to reach their full potential as preparation for a world beyond the school fence.

As the largest primary school on the Capricorn Coast, we offer quality innovative curriculum programs across a range of classroom settings.

Our extension, support and extra-curricula programs are aimed at supporting and engaging students at all levels. Some of these programs include Instrumental Music, Choirs, Musical productions and active participation in a range of interschool sport.

All classrooms from Prep to Year 6 have implemented the National Curriculum in English, Mathematics, Science and History. The Queensland Curriculum of Essential Learnings informs the learning experiences for Technology, Health and Physical Education, Studies of Society and Environment, Languages other than English and The Arts.

Our classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art interactive whiteboards, designed to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum. Students have access to networked computers in every classroom, digital camera, iPads and iPods. All students and classes have access to the Resource Centre which houses a large collection of fiction and nonfiction books and to the Hub, a state of the art building with a computer lab that can accommodate a whole class, wireless spaces, laptops, interactive whiteboards and a fully equipped science lab.

Our facilities continue to be enhanced with all classrooms air-conditioned; a performing arts hall; new playgrounds, ovals and play spaces.

Our focus on the environment is evident through our Junior Landcare program and environmental area, the recycling program; Henry’s Hen House; worm farms and the installation of rain water tanks. Energy efficient lighting and solar power panels are in use at our school to lessen the school’s carbon footprint.

Our staff is committed to excellence and constantly engage in professional learning to ensure their planning and teaching meets the needs of today's learners and prepares them for a world beyond our school fence.
