Principal’s welcome

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Taranganba State School. Our school has been serving the Yeppoon community since 1993. Our school vision is to ensure that we create lifelong learners – every child, every day and every opportunity.

This vision is strengthened by core values:

·         Learning – providing a quality and sustainable curriculum supported by instructional models that prepare students for a world beyond the school fence

·         Integrity – developing the ‘whole’ child

·         Growth – nurturing and challenging each individual to develop their full potential

Our students are provided the opportunity to experience success in their academic learning and have opportunity to engage in a range of extra-curricular and school activities.

Our experienced teaching team and school support team provide delivery of the highest quality teaching and learning, in a supportive environment, challenges the students to do the best they can every day through every opportunity.

A variety of programs allow children to participate in cultural and sporting pursuits.

Physical activity is important for children and our program of physical education and health lessons, is supported by our swimming program, cross country and athletics events. Students in Year 5 and 6 also participate in Interschool sport allowing the opportunity to engage with other schools in the Capricorn Coast cluster. Opportunities to represent both the school, Keppel Cluster and region in a range of sports is offered for Year 5-6 students.

The Performing Arts program engages children in instrumental music, choir, and school musicals offering a range of opportunities to participate in Eisteddfod, Fanfare and school and community events.

Digital Technology prepares children for 21st Century learning. With the development of the school Makerspace, children have the opportunity to engage in a range of projects both during and after school. The development of teacher’s skills in digital and design technology is supported by a coaching and professional learning program.

As an Independent Public School our school council is a vital part of our strategic planning process within the school. The School Council is representative of school staff and parents. We encourage you to participate in our Parents and Citizens Association who meet monthly to support the school with resourcing and providing advice to the Principal.

We welcome you to our school community and look forward to engaging with you in your child’s education to ensure that they have every opportunity, every day to succeed.
