Developing the
leadership potential of our students is an integral part of our school
culture.
Our Leadership Program is most visible through the work of our Year 6 students
through their leadership roles.
Elected School Leaders
Year 5 students are
provided the opportunity to apply for Leadership roles for the following school
year. These roles include:
- School Captain and Vice
Captain
- Indigenous Student
Leaders
- House Captains and Vice
Captains
- Music Captains - Strings and Band
Students apply through a
letter to the Principal, supported by references from their current classroom
teacher, another staff member and their parent/s.
These roles are
announced at the end of each year in preparation for the following year.
Citizenship Badges
All Year 6 students have the opportunity to work towards earning Citizenship Badges throughout the school year, with Year 5 students able to begin working towards their badges in Term 4. Students enter into a partnership with staff to provide service to the school community in areas such as assisting in the library, changing the school sign, setting up lunchtime activities, and supporting school events.
As students demonstrate commitment, responsibility, and positive citizenship, they can progress through Bronze, Silver, and Gold Citizenship Badges across the year. Gold Citizenship Badges are presented to students at Graduation in recognition of their outstanding contribution and service to the school community.
Young Leaders
Our Young Leaders Program for students in Years 3–6 gives students the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and take an active role in our school community. Replacing the traditional Student Council model, the program encourages students to develop leadership skills through teamwork, responsibility, inclusiveness, and positive participation. Young Leaders work together across year levels to share student ideas, support school events and activities, and help organise fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
Through regular leadership sessions and hands-on experiences, students are empowered to represent their peers, contribute to school improvement initiatives, and model respectful, positive behaviour within our community.
