The Taranganba State School Strings Program has grown in numbers over the recent years despite the restrictions imposed due to COVID. Whilst we haven't been able to compete in the Rockhampton Eisteddfod for the last couple of years, our Senior Strings were the only string group make it through to the Regional Finals in the Rockhampton Region. The group also regularly wins their section of the Eisteddfod. This year was the first time ever that Mrs Dobson has entered the beginner Strings into the Fanfare heats, for which they were awarded a Gold certificate.
In previous years, our Strings have represented the school proudly in community events, festivals and have even travelled to Brisbane Parliament House to play for a Seniors' concert one year.
Last year we had a combined orchestra rehearsal with our High school students, a Boot Camp for all 1st and second year players, our regular Solo Fest and a Twilight Concert where we joined forces with the Band, and Ms Cook's Tropitoots and Choir. We also get small groups to 'busk' around the school at lunchtimes.
As the world starts to open up again, Taranganba Performing Arts groups are starting to get busier as more opportunities open up for our talented musicians. We look forward to great things in our calendar such Beginner Boot Camp i and a combined Primary/High School workshop.
