Welcome to Taranganba State School.
Taranganba State School was established in 1993. Our school caters for students from Prep to Year 6. Our student cohort includes an Indigenous population of 11%, while 19.3% students have adjustments made to address disability.
Our school values are:
- Respectful
- Responsible
- Resilient
Our mission is for every learner, every day, to have every opportunity to learn and grow in a culture where we are respectful, responsible and resilient.
We are committed to working with integrity and learning together to maximise our growth.
Inclusive practices are a key focus for our school. Building teacher capability to enable access and provision for all students, we continually seek to ensure that every student is succeeding. Our teachers are supported by engagement teachers and teacher aides maximising resourcing for all year levels. Our curriculum offerings include English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences taught by classroom teachers, and specialist teaching areas of Music, Health and Physical Education, Visual Arts and Wellbeing. Our specialist staff offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities for our students throughout the school year. Japanese is taught from Year 5 to Year 6 through an ongoing partnership with Capricornia School of Distance Education. Extension programs are provided to Year 5 and 6 students through Queensland Virtual STEM Academy and Year 3 and 4 students by our STEM teachers, through engaging, innovative and creative projects. Our instrumental music program offers students participation in Tropi-toots for beginners, Strings and Instrumental Band programs. Students regularly perform at parade, busk throughout the school, participate in competitions and events to build their performance skills. We are school focused on Restorative Practices, underpinned by our Positive Behaviour for Learning processes and procedures. Student Leadership is encouraged and students are elected each year to be part of our student leadership team. Year 5 students design their senior shirt each year providing a memento of their senior year created by a fellow student. Better Buddies is a program engaging Year 6 students with our littlest of Taranganba students through the Allanah and Madeline Foundation. Taranganba has a established a strong transition program to Prep. This has resulted in a comprehensive orientation program, engaging parents, children, teachers and Kindy providers and focused positive and successful entry to school for all children. Our school offers an environment conducive to learning, with garden areas, Landcare spaces, the Hangar (covered play space), large undercover areas, the Hub - Library and STEM specialist spaces and play grounds to support Prep, Year 1 - 3 and Year 4 -6 students.
As an Independent Public School our school council is a vital part of our strategic planning process within the school. The School Council is representative of school staff and parents. We encourage you to participate in our Parents and Citizens Association who meet monthly to support the school with resourcing and providing advice to the Principal.
We welcome you to our school community and look forward to engaging with you in your child’s education to ensure that they have every opportunity, every day to succeed.
